TestWater now includes a database!

The latest version of TestWater is now available and includes a testing database to capture your customers and their tests (or just your own tests).

Also included in this release is a new set of default rules. These are for basic testing purposes only and a full set of rules will be available soon.

Process Stalker 1.3.1.0

ProcessStalker has been updated to 1.3.1.0.

This update provides the ability to insert a dynamic variable for the computer name into the email subject. Simply add "<computer>" into the email subject where you would like the computer name to appear and this will be updated when the email is sent.

In addition to this a new hidden feature has been added for integration with third party monitoring systems. Instead of sending emails, adding to a log file or sending a windows message using the hidden variable, AlertToFile, you can now specify the name and location of an html file that will be generated when an alert is triggered and removed afterwards. This file can then be picked up and inserted into ASP pages or into other monitoring systems for display.

Lab Software Updates

There have been two major updates to the members Experimental Lab Software today.

Online.www has been released from the labs today and can now be found in the Utilities section.

This application provides web service monitoring of HTTP/HTTPS/FTP services for any specified host.

It is FREE to use. Find out more here.

#FTP (SharpFTP) Alpha release has been added to the lab today for members to test and comment.

This basic FTP program includes a download speed indicator and a clean and clear interface.

Print Stalker 1.5.1

Print Stalker 1.5.1 has now been released. The latest updates include the ability to send a notification message reporting a count of the number of jobs in queue without deleting the jobs. This can also be used with a minute interval to report on jobs older than a specified time only.

The new notification alert is ideal if you are using the application to report on printers that are building up a back log of jobs. You can also use this to get a total count of jobs in queue each time a check is performed. You will only receive an email if the check returns results.

Drive Stalker 1.2, Process Stalker 1.3, Service Stalker 1.5

Drive Stalker 1.2, Process Stalker 1.3 and Service Stalker 1.5 have now been released. This release brings them up to date with the features from the latest Print Stalker 1.5 release earlier this week. The latest updates include the ability to send a notification message to all users on the current computer when an event occurs and the recording of events to a CSV log file which you can open in Excel or notepad to review events.

The new notification alert is ideal if you are using the application as a monitoring tool on client machines so that users can be notified of alerts.

The log file provides a great way to review the frequency and type of events that are being reported and provides a way to check that these are being diagnosed if your machine is not configured to receive notifications or send emails.

Print Stalker 1.5

Print Stalker 1.5 has now been released. The latest updates include the ability to send a notification message to all users on the current computer when an event occurs and the recording of events to a CSV log file which you can open in Excel or notepad to review events.

The new notification alert is ideal if you are using the application as a monitoring tool on client machines so that users can be notified of print job or printer errors on any of the printers installed on their machine, even if the printer is not actually connected to their machine.

These great new features will soon be rolled out to the other applications in the Stalker suite of products.

Stalker Monitoring Updates

I have now released updates to all of the Stalker Monitoring applications.

The latest round of updates provides the ability to customise the subject of notification emails, a web link for my site and for Service Stalker, the ability to restart failed services. I have also standardised Print Stalker and Drive Stalker with a better form factor and the 'Clear Selections' button.

Service Stalker Released

Service Stalker makes service monitoring easy by allowing you to select any services on a system, mark them and check regularly that they are running. This is a very simple but very powerful monitoring tool.

Service Stalker can be scheduled using the Windows Task Scheduler and can send an email notification when problems occur.
