Yo - It's that simple. Now that Yo has become more advanced and includes a more capable API it was time to return to Yo and look at what we could do to take advantage of this simple but powerful application.

Yo is a zero character communication tool that sends 1 message, Yo, between users on mobile devices. This simplicity has now been extended with an API that allows a Yo to contain a link or location and this allows actionable information to be included with our Yo and I have built some tools to assist you in doing so.

SendYo

SendYo is a windows desktop application. It requires Microsoft .Net 4.0 to be installed but no installation. SendYo allows you to send a Yo to all subscribers of a Yo account including an optional link, or a Yo to a specific user including an optional link or location. This simple application can also be run as an interactive application or from the command line providing a way of automating the sending of a Yo based on an alert or notification making it perfect for out of hours system monitoring alerts. It can also be used as a way of sending broadcast Yo website links to your subscribers of any website or service.

Yo ASP

Yo ASP is a collection of asp pages that can be used to extend Yo functionality on an IIS server. Yo.asp is designed as a Yo callback page which can be configured to receive callbacks from a Yo API account. Upon receiving a callback this page will send a formatted email to the specified address containing the information from the Yo. If a location is included then a link to a google map is provided. Yoserver.asp is designed as an asp page to make Yo messages more informative. While you can only send a link or location with a Yo, using SendYo it is possible to have this link include a server name and alert time. This asp page will format that date and time so the recipient can see additional information about the alert.

I have done the hard work for you in these components so you can very quickly take advantage of the powerful functionality available in generating your own mobile notification system using Yo. If you have any suggestions or recommendations on how I can extend these tools for Yo, I would love to hear from you.
